"Coming to our Master's Table"
Verse:

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”  Psalm 23:5

Quick Tip:
It is evident that King David sees the value of preparing a feast for his Heavenly Father.  The banqueting table was one of the places where David felt protected by his Savior even amongst his enemies.  In the ancient Near East, covenants (agreements) were often concluded with a meal, which was expressive of the bond of friendship.*  It was also customary to anoint the head of the most honored guest with oil at a banquet table.

So what can we learn by coming to our Master’s table today?

1.) God will honor the time you spend with Him.  As you grow in your relationship by coming to His banqueting table on a daily basis, He will comfort you and give you peace during both the challenging and joyous moments in your life.

2.) Preparing a feast for the Lord at His table is a symbol of your love and devotion to God.  What does preparing a feast require?

a. Your time:  Perhaps evaluate how much of your day is spent praising and communicating with our Father.
b. Your energy:  Does your energy source come directly from the Father or do you run on your own fuel throughout each day?
c. Your resources:  What did you sacrifice financially for the cause of Christ this month/week/day?
3.) You are the most honored guest at your heavenly Father’s table.  You’re life matters to God.  The lost matter to God.  Every time you come to His table you are the center of His attention.

Have you come to His table today?
