Joy
in Believing
I want
to share with you about the God I believe in. The one true God. Holy
God. My greatest desire is for you to know Him too.
The God
of creation. Our Holy God of the Bible that contains books Genesis
through Revelation.
My God
created the world in seven days. (I just went through a move, I’ve
been in my home 7 days, and I still haven’t unpacked everything.)
My God created the world with His voice,” Let the…” (I can’t
even get my dog to mind me.)
My God
created light and darkness. (I use the light switch on the wall.)
My God created the sky by dividing the waters. Can you remember the
next time He divided the waters? (Think Moses)
My God
gathered the water to one place and dry ground appeared. Sometime
later, He divided the waters so the Israelites could escape the Egyptians.
Exodus 14:21 Land and sea God created.
My God
commanded the land to produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees
on the land that bear fruit with seed in the fruit, all different kinds.
I can
still see the descendants of that first creation. Go look out a window.
What do you see? I think that’s why my favorite color is green and my favorite
fruits are berries…lots of seeds in those berries! Many seeds produce many
fruits.
My God
made the sun and the moon and the stars (and a thing called love).
So we could have days, seasons, and years. The great big light he made
in the sky was the Sun. (It governed the day) The smaller light governed
the night. Kind of like a night-light. The moon shone bright. He
also made the stars to help light the whole of the earth and to govern
both the day and the night. Then of course we had morning and evening.
My God
then made the birds to fly in the sky and living creatures to live in the
sea. Lots of different kinds of birds and living creatures. ( I happen
to be a creative person that only wants to create one thing once. I don’t
enjoy making the same thing over and over…sounds like God didn’t either.
I have a feeling he enjoyed creating all the variety of species of birds
and living creatures. Then sitting back with a smile and saying, “It is
good”.)
My God
created the living creatures to walk on the earth. Lots of different species
and breeds. And He said, it is good. Then God said, “Let us (God,
Jesus, and the Holy Spirit) make man in our image, in our likeness, and
let them(he already knew Eve was coming along) rule over the fish of the
sea, and the birds of the air, and the livestock, and over the entire earth,
and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So
there’s where it gets sticky.
Man and
woman were created. (That’s you and me). God told them they could
have anything in the garden to eat except the fruit from one tree. One
tree. The garden was full of fruit and vegetables to eat. Only one
tree God told them to not eat. Then along came Satan in the form
of a snake and said, “ God just doesn’t want you to be as wise as Him,
take a bite…it won’t hurt you.” So Eve took a bite and then being
the good wife she shared her fruit with Adam. Crunch! One bite by
two people brought sin into our lives. God threw them out of the
garden. And said, get to work, if you want to eat, you work for it.
In a
few weeks, I’ll tell you what God did about sinful man…and the compassionate
Father that He is. You won’t believe how much He loves you. John
3:16
Lots
of love to you,
Martha
