Home Sweet Home
written by
E, J. Gray

I wished and I prayed,
for my own place to stay.
I have gotten my way,
but there is a price I must pay.
I wrote a list just yesterday,
of all the things that are in decay.

There are holes in the floor,
need to replace the back door,
wait now there's more.
I found a dead rat under the sink,
(It's hard to get rid of that stink)
I guess it had done bit through the cord,
cause the stove, it don't work no more.
If i don't get rid of these fleas,
I'll probably catch some disease.
My tv's on the blink,
and my roof, it has leaks.
Mice and snakes and millipedes
all live in the house with me.
And this one last addition
there is now a tree in my kitchen.
It fell last night during the storm,
(I'm just glad that I wasn't home.)
I'll throw it into the mix,
of the things left to fix.

You may say my house is falling down,
but I will boldly stand my ground.
It will be a while before i roam,
for now this is my Home Sweet Home.
