He Didn't "Just" Die
written

I had a friend the other
day,
Asking what God has done
for me.
I did not take time to
sift
through everyone of God's
great gifts.
I started to tell him of
the greatest One.
About the life and death
of God's Own Son.
He said he'd already heard
that story
and that he found it long
and boring.
So I rolled my eyes at
him
and skipped ahead to the
end
of how the Son of God died
for our sins.
First He was stripped,
Then He was whipped,
He was mocked, scorned,
Then crowned with thorns,
Abused, ridiculed,
Spit upon,
And then His cross
He bore alone.
Forced to drag it up a
hill,
And nailed to it, so His
blood would spill.
He prayed that God would
forgive all of them,
And asked why He had turned
His eye's from Him.
He hung up there, and slowly
died,
His mother watched, His
mother cried.
He could have called His
angels in,
Instead He payed the price
for us,my friend.
In all of this, if you'll
believe,
No greater gift could You
receive.
