“Whatsoever Things”
“Whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things.” Philippians 4:8

Hush
my rushing mind
Stop
replaying the words of yesterday
They were
not meant to drive you insane
But to open
your eyes to another way.
Why does my
mind rewind the thoughts
And turn
words spoken into perception
That
someone intended hurt
When, in
fact, their words were for their own protection?
Teach me to
train my mind, Oh Lord,
To stop
rushing from thought to thought.
Words
spoken are words never regained
Stuck in
the mind and heart of the hearer.
Oh Lord,
train my tongue, my mouth
To speak
words as though you are the bearer.
Teach me,
Oh Lord, to hear your voice
And to
measure my words as you teach
Teach me,
Oh Lord, to rest in you,
My body, my
mind, my speech.
Teach me to
train my mouth, Oh Lord,
To speak
words that are pleasing to You.
Then, Oh
Lord, will there be peace
In a mind
that rests solely in You.
