A
True Princess
"How great is the love
the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!"
And that is what we are! I John 3:1
I get tickled sometimes
when I think about network computers. You can type in “WHOAMI” and
the computer will respond with its name. How about you? Do
you know who you are? Seems like a silly question … but lately, that’s
exactly what I’ve been asking myself: WHO AM I?
I love Cinderella stories.
One of my favorites of all time is Rodgers and Hammerstein’s version.
I grew up anxiously awaiting that once-per-year chance to watch it on TV.
(Of course, now I own the video!) There’s just something about the
poor, mistreated girl that gets her chance to meet the prince that touches
my heart. That Cinderella could become a princess is so sweet … but
… she wasn’t born a princess.
In the recent Disney
movie The Princess Diaries, Mia Thermopolis grew up not knowing who she
really was: Princess of Genovia. Once she learned (at age 15),
however, she was allowed to choose to accept the royal position or not.
I believe it’s really the same with us: We are true children of the
King, but we must decide to accept that position or not! One of my
favorite lines from The Princess Diaries is: “No one can quit being
who they really are, not even a princess.” Hmmmmm … not even
a princess …
So … did you know we
are ALL princesses? Think about it for just a moment. A PRINCESS!
Ponder that thought. Now … think it through with me. Our heavenly
Father is the King of Kings. We are His beloved children. The
precious daughter of the King is … a PRINCESS!
Ask yourself this:
Do I really believe that I am a princess? Do I really believe that
I am a precious child of the King of Kings? Do I believe that truth
about my husband? My children? My friends? Do I behave
like a royal heir? Hmmmmm …
My little sister has
2 pre-teen daughters. One of the things she really stresses with
them as they are reaching their teen years is this: REMEMBER WHO
YOU ARE … AND WHOSE YOU ARE. I think the same should be true for
each one of us … remind yourself that you are (your full name) and that
you are a precious child of THE King!
… we are God’s children.
Now if we are children,
then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ … Romans 8:16-17
