Weekend Retreat
May
30, 31 and June 1, 2003
"In the
Stillness ... Speak Lord"
"Speak Lord, for I am listening" I Samuel 3:10
Have you ever wondered what God's voice sounds like?
Do you hear others talking about conversations they have had with God and you just don't understand?
Are you often confused about which path to take in life?
Does your heart long for quiet time to spend with the Lord, but you don't know where to start?
Dragonfly Ministries has developed an informal women's retreat that will teach women to scripturally train their hearts and minds to hear God's voice clearer as He speaks. God's desire is that all know Him and hear His voice. He has a plan for the life of each one of us, and He wants to reveal to you
what His plan is for your life.
During the weekend retreat, we will share in a time of interactive Bible study, we will hear inspirational testimonies from women who have learned to hear God's voice, and we will find a place of quiet rest around the lodge where we can spend time alone with our Lord.
Our first spring retreat
was held on May 30, 31 and June 1 at Kaleo Lodge
in Mineola, Texas.
Our Friday and Sunday
speaker was Lynn Lillard, who came in from Nashville, Tennessee to teach
us about drawing nearer to the heart of God. Our Saturday morning speaker
was our own dragonfly, Martha Shipman, who brought us a message of truth,
instructing us to beware of the lies of Satan and find the Truth of God
in all situations. Jennifer Young brought the praise and worship
music to us, and touched our hearts deeply with her message in song.
I have included comments
from some of the attendees, so you can get an idea of what "wow" means
to the dragonflies that were at the retreat:
Honestly,
I'm still processing this past weekend. So much happened that it's
difficult to summarize everything. The one thing that has "stuck"
with me is the question Lynn (Lillard) asked us, "Are you seeking God,
or the THINGS of God?" That has been revolutionary in my mind and
in my prayer life. I've become so aware of how often I seek God for
the benefits He gives me rather than for the awesome pleasure of meeting
with the Lord of Creation. She also asked the question, "If God never
answered another prayer of mine, would I still worship Him?" I have to
say that is a very challenging question. If God NEVER once responded
to another of my prayers, I have to admit that it would be difficult and
discouraging to come into His presence. So am I seeking Him because
He answers my prayers? Or am I seeking Him alone and out of His abundant
grace, love, and mercy He chooses to respond to me? I think Lynn truly
challenged me to grow beyond my current relationship with Christ and to
deeply seek Him and love Him more.

I've been to many
retreats, but this excels them all. The HolySpirit was so welcomed
and felt in each person who spoke. The agape messages that we received
were a touch of His love, it meant so much to have such personal attention.
The place was so spiritual in its natural surroundings and beautiful trees,
plants, flowers, and the solitude of the lake.

time, Lynn Lillard wrote a beautiful account of her conversation with God. Click here to read.
